How to play defense
Stay between the ball and the basket. That sentence is the whole public defense guide, expanded. Contest without throwing your hands at every gather. Use length and a vertical when you are already in position. Gambling for a poke is how the ball handler you just faced gets a lane.
The button that is not in the charts
I opened the TechWiser tables and the Gamepur tables looking for steal and for block. They are not there. Shooting, passing, dunks, screens, post-ups, and the dribble alphabet are there. A dedicated “press X to steal” line would be something I made up. If the community server pins an input later, that pin is the source. Until then this page stops at stance and timing.
Help and recover
When your matchup gives the ball up, you are not done. The 3v3 and 5v5 notes talk about winning by rotating, not by ripping the ball every possession. Sink toward the paint if you are the low player, then get back out when the ball swings. A lock build such as Demigod (97 perimeter defense, 85 block, 95 vertical in the August sheet) makes those contests taller. It does not add a button the charts omit.
On a phone, dragging the camera while you hold the shot button is already a known fight on offense. On defense the same drag moves your view off the ball handler. Leave the camera alone until the possession changes. Settings for stick speed live on the settings page, and that page is a single-source method, not a magic number.

No steal key is printed in the PC or controller charts I used.
What button is block?
No block key is printed either. Contest by being in the lane with your build’s length.
How do you play defense?
Stay between ball and rim, rotate when the pass comes, and do not reach on every gather.
