How to hesi
Hesitation is a pause that steals a defender’s forward step. It is not a spin and it is not a shot. On a keyboard, C plays it with the right hand and Z plays it with the left. A gamepad uses the d-pad right or left, or a sideways flick of the right stick, for the same pause.
The moment that makes it useful
Press it when you see the other player’s weight tip toward you. The pause makes them bite. Your next touch should be a crossover or a snatchback, not another pause. If nobody is guarding you, the animation still plays and you gain nothing. You just burned time. Save it for a body that is actually leaning.
Double taps change the move
Hitting the key twice does not mean a bigger hesi. The charts treat a second press as a different combo. If the animation looks like a stepback or a tween, you doubled the input. Slow down. One press, then a different key for the escape.
A chunk of search traffic for this move is garbled voice typing (“control its not thatler” and similar). The intended question is the one in the title: which button, and when. There is no separate “hesi setting” in any published menu. Package choice in the creator can change how violent the pause looks, but the button stays C or Z.
If the pause keeps coming out as a crossover, check the hand again. Right hand wants C. Left hand wants Z. That swap is the whole system, and it shows up on the spin page for a different reason. Here it only matters so the pause itself appears.
FAQ
How do you hesi?
C for the right hand, Z for the left. On a pad, d-pad or right-stick sideways.
Why does nothing happen to the defender?
The pause still animates with no defender. It only creates space if someone bites.
Is there a hesi toggle in settings?
The reviewed control charts describe an input, not a hesi on/off setting. Use the key that matches the hand holding the ball.
